Insert text here.Rev. Kenneth Giles is a native Chicagoan and product of the public school system. He graduated from Morgan Park High School in 1982, exemplifying leadership qualities even then; he served as senior class President. He attended North Carolina A & T University and Illinois School of Commerce, where he graduated with honors as an Accounting major. He furthered his religious studies and currently has a Bachelors Degree in Religious Studies and Theology. He also graduated with honors and served as the President of the graduating class of Chicago Baptist Institute.
He accepted Christ at the early age of seven under the leadership of Rev. Earl D. Boggs at the Rose Hill Baptist Church. He was baptized on April 4, 1971.
In 1980 Rev. Giles united with Mt. Calvary Baptist Church under the leadership of Rev. Donald L. Parson. It was there that he accepted his call to ministry, and preached his first sermon on April 18, 1982. He was licensed, and on February 11, 1990, he was ordained into the gospel ministry.
Rev. Giles has nurtured his calling to preach the gospel through intensive study of the Word. In 1991, he became a charter member of Logos Baptist Assembly also under the leadership of Dr. Donald L. Parson. He served faithfully as an associate minister, radio announcer,
Sunday School teacher, VBS and Word Institute Instructor, and gave leadership to the Bereavement Ministry.
He has also taught on the national level at the National Congress of Christian Education USA Inc., in the Youth Division, and the National Missionary Baptist Convention. He is constantly sought after to preach throughout the city of Chicago and surrounding areas. He has taught extensively in seminars and workshops and preached numerous revivals.
He serves as the proud Pastor of Second Mount Olive Baptist Church in Chicago, IL, where he succeeded Rev. Dr. James Bass in February 2002. He is a humble and astute preacher/pastor/teacher who loves his congregation and serves there faithfully. Under his leadership, the Word goes forth with power and conviction. He loves the Lord and is committed to the cause of Christ. He has spearheaded a multi-million dollar renovation project for the church and community.
He’s a husband, father and grandfather. He is greatly influenced first and foremost by the Word of God, and then his biological father, Deacon Thomas Giles and his Pastor, Rev. Donald L. Parson. His favorite scripture is I Corinthians 15:58.
